Management Programs

The following programs guide MRM’s efforts in environmental management:

Resource conservation
  • covering environmental surveying, a permit system for authorising clearing and digging, annual waste management plans and documentation of resource use 
Environmental impact management
  • incorporating annual reviews of the mine’s performance against both Xstrata standards and the Northern Territory Government requirements, third party review of monitoring data and internal compliance reviews 
Environmental incident management
  • confirming a procedure for reporting, investigating and learning from environmental incidents 
Environmental training
  • ensuring all managers, employees and contractors know their responsibilities for environmental protection 
Environmental communication
  • promoting MRM’s policies, presentations, actions, standards and guidelines on environmental issues.
