A combined cycle natural gas power station is located on site to generate electricity for MRM.

The supply of natural gas and operation of this power station are covered by agreements with the Power and Water Authority (PAWA) entered in June 1994 for a period of 20 years.

Under these agreements, PAWA constructed and operates the gas pipeline from Daly Waters to the MRM power station and operates the power station.

MRM pays a tariff and a pipeline levy which were calculated to cover the full construction and operating costs of the power station and pipeline. These are adjusted annually for CPI.
