Environment

A total of 24 sampling sites are monitored upstream and downstream of MRM within Barney Creek, Surprise Creek, the Glyde River and McArthur River to check surface water and sediment quality

Overview

We are committed to the highest standards of environmental management and performance. Our management practices proactively prevent risks and we have a comprehensive monitoring program in place to regularly assess and record the mine’s environmental performance.

We are reducing our environmental footprint through the efficient use of natural resources, the reduction of input materials and waste and by conserving biodiversity. We believe that effective environmental performance encourages greater efficiency and higher standards of performance at our operations and minimises risks to our business, contributing directly to our long-term success.

MRM implements a Sustainable Development Framework which comprises a policy, standards and procedures which can be cross mapped to ISO14001 and AS/NZS4801.

These standards have also been cross mapped with the Minerals Council of Australia Enduring Value Principles for sustainable development.
