A message from the MRM General Manager
In line with Xstrata’s commitment to sustainable development, we at MRM have designed and continuously improve our operations to ensure we are integrating strategies benefiting our people, the community, our surrounding environment and the Northern Territory and Australian economies.
MRM is a metallurgically complex and technically challenging mine. For our employees, this offers the potential for interesting opportunities to learn and develop as professionals within the mining industry. We invest in our people and offer the benefits of inspiring jobs and competitive remuneration conditions with the flexibility of a fly-in, fly-out roster. The health and safety of all employees is our highest priority.
Since the mine was established in 1995, we have maintained a close and direct working relationship with the community in and around the town of Borroloola and the wider Gulf region. In addition to sponsorships and donations supporting community initiatives and our participation in community planning forums, we also support the socio-economic development of the region through the MRM Community Benefits Trust in partnership with the Northern Territory Government and community members.
Critically though, we are conscious that our protection of the environment and effective management of all potential impacts from the mining operation is the essential to its sustainability. We are committed to preserving Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and protecting the long-term health, function and viability of the environment in a way that consistently meets our stringent standards and the standards provided by regulatory requirements.
This website provides you with extensive information on all aspects of the MRM operation.
